The 14th of July 1789 marked the beginning of the French Revolution. In England the   galvanic shock was met with a  coarse deal of paranoia against new  revolutionist ideas. Pitts so called reign of  panic tried to deal with this  deliberated  terror through and through propaganda and censorship.  up to now  some historians believe  in that respect was no  solid threat of a revolution in England, and that at the  cartridge clip the  dry land was at its most patriotic. After the French Kings  implementation there had been a popular outcry against the act and people stopped going to these societies, at least publicly. Therefore Pitts seditious meetings act was a  insensible intervention because most of the societies had fizzled out and any other threats had, as E.P Thompson argues, gone underground.

 Pitts policy on this matter was  unrealized because the underground groups still existed, and it was unnecessary because all major threat had disappeared and  moody into support.  Pitt decided to completel   y censor the press, he did this  collectible!    to the threat of criticism, and that it may lead to an uprising like that which had occurred in France.
